OMI, derived from the Yoruba word for "water," captures the fluidity of the ocean’s surface. Inspired by Makoko, a historic fishing settlement in Lagos, and Shodeinde’s perception of water as a silent yet captivating force, the piece evokes contemplation. Hundreds of hand-sculpted mahogany veneers are layered and merged to mimic the rippling effect of a moving wave. Resting above this dynamic base, a stained glass top features a radial gradient, emphasizing the expanding motion of water when disturbed.
